I've finished those wedding pendants. ^_^ I threw in an extra green one because I was worried that one might be too dark or the other might be too pale, this way she can just pick whichever one looks appropriate when she has them all in her possession. I was trying to think of a nice freebie and that seemed to be the most useful. :)
I like how it came out but I'm a bit worried that they're all coming out looking much the same. I guess that means I'm getting good enough at it that I'm starting to be able to replicate the random patterns that I come up with as I go.
Also, I didn't manage to make the back look as nice as the front this time. Not a big deal but that's something I try to achieve with coins since they are double sided.
I've been super busy with this project lately, I'm trying to get the bulk of it ready by the end of May so we can launch the website. I did a custom stylesheet for Tarski, and it came out real pretty, yet sort of somber and historical looking. All I have to do is draw up a couple custom images and base site will be done. Heck, those can even wait until after launch if need be, the site functions and looks nice without them. We'll see how much time it takes to do everything else.
I won't be worrying about any of that tonight though. I'll be glued to the season finale of Heroes. *woots!*

Wrapped another antique coin this morning. This one was a 1933 Shilling. I had some slightly crinkled wire from a different wrap that didn’t go absolutely perfect and I thought it might lend a certain touch to this particular coin, since it’s a little on the worn side. I think it turned out pretty neat, though I didn’t manage to make it double sided like the others. Not to say that it couldn’t be worn tail-side facing front, it just doesn’t have any nifty swirls on that side is all.
Of course I had to do this before the sun came up so I can’t photograph it yet. I could try but jewelry photos rarely come out nice when taken using lamps alone. A combination of lamp + some natural sunlight or just natural sunlight (depending on if it’s a cloudy day) is usually much better. I did read a tip a little while ago about putting a bit of paper over your flash to diffuse the light a bit, I should give that a shot too.

For a little while there I wasn't sure if I was going to list absolutely all my pieces on Etsy, I had to tinker with a few shopping cart softwares first. Now that they've got a handy little "mini etsy" feature that makes it much easier to display my listings on my own site, I made my mind up and got down to it. You can find my shop here, and it's also linked in my sidebar.
Here's a few of the pendants I've put up.
I never did find out what kind of stone this Cabochon was, but I think it's some sort of Agate. I think I listed it 5 times on eBay, and nobody seemed to want it. I have no idea why, I think it's pretty cute. ^_^
The other reason I've held off listing is that I'm getting pretty close to the end of my stock and I haven't made a significant number of new pieces in quite a while. Fortunately Etsy listings last for 4 months if they don't sell first so I've got a pretty big window in which to get new pieces up. I've also got some custom stuff to do for a project that hopefully is launching sometime in may so I really need to get busy again.
Nothing against the friends I've done custom pieces for, but this one is special. It's a contact I made through myspace (I guess it is good for something no?) and it involved an 1844 Sixpence featuring the young Queen Victoria.
I was also contacted recently on my eBay account with an inquiry about a possible commission for some bridesmaid accessories next fall. I'm positively giddy with this little burst of popularity.
I'm so glad I completely overhauled the site last week. New versions of Wordpress and my prefered theme came out within a couple days of each other, so I had some code wrasslin to do. I think I'm happy enough with it to leave the base design alone for a while now. The upgrades broke my forum plugin so I ended up just installing a full forum. Overall I think it's a lot slicker actually, and I found a theme for it that was super easy to sync with my Wordpress, so it all looks of a piece. I'm still not completely satisfied with my gallery plugin but I haven't found anything better yet.
Busy busy busy.
And I completely forgot to post anything about it here. Sorry *blush*
Here it is, and not in that theme I spent all that time customizing. The gallery plugin that I'm using isn't compatible with the theme I wanted, and after hours of tweaking with no success I just switched to a different one. It's only temporary, as there's a plugin in development that I'll be switching to once it's finished, and as far as I know it's not as likely to have anything that would conflict with anything in the theme files.
What really makes me happy is I got a message forum plugin to work, which is something I've had a bit of a bad experience with in the past. About a year ago I tried to build a WoW blog using Wordpress with a forum, for me and a few in-game friends to hang out at. Nobody could sign up unless I created the accounts manually, the permissions handling sucked (I had to make everybody an editor before they could post in the forums) and the thing had a new update out every couple of days, so I was constantly uninstalling and reinstalling it in hopes that the bugs would be fixed, and they never were.
Because of this, I was fully prepared to use a separate install of phpbb or smf. I wanted a message board on theweejenny.net because I'm going to be creating some tutorials eventually, and being able to have discussions attached to the tutorials would really help the whole teaching process. Having it integrated into the site isn't totally necessary, but it is nice, because I don't expect to have a whole lot of users for quite some time, and I may never need anything very complicated.
And now, I should lie down for a couple of hours. I've caught some weird chest congestion thingie and I can't breath so good. I have no idea how it started, since I haven't smoked for over 7 months now, but I've got a bunch of fluid in the bottom of my left lung (boy it's great having an RN in the house to check these things) and small exertions leave me kinda breathless. I can't even sleep on my left or it gets worse, which sucks because that's the side I usually lay on. *cry*
Maybe later I'll post about the Christmas tree that we bought at...the Dollar Store!
Toodles.
Apparently we live right next to the greatest dollar store in the entire continent. Amongst the many useful household items that we procured there, I bought a bunch of decorative glass thingies that I can paint lovely kanji and runes and so forth on and then wrap into pendants.
I can't wait to see what these look like in settings. I bought a whole bunch of them so I should be able to come up with quite a bit of stock. ^_^
I'm not sure if I mentioned it in my first post (or my bio or whatnot), but I do this little crafty thing called wire wrapping (mostly pendants) and sell my finished pieces on ebay. I've got about 13 pendant up right now, if anybody would like to go check them out. Clicky here for the pretties.
I really should be working on some more stock, but the heat is making me terribly lazy. I've got every single window open and every fan on full blast but the thermostat is still tells me that it's over 30 Celsius in here. Maybe I'll just throw on a Firefly disk or two and drink near-beer until I get sleepy.
Night all. Tim says g'night too. ^_^
