I can't believe I never got around to posting the final version, I'm so distracted. :P
Anyhoo, here's the final version of the little WoW music video I did. The 2.2 patch has now gone live so I imagine Jamie and I will be making videos with our actual characters one day soon. I didn't change much in this version, just a few timing and sound tweaks, plus an extra cut away or two to break up a couple of the longer shots. It's also been optimized a bit for youtube posting so it might actually be a bit clearer. It would have been better if I hadn't been so worried about filling up my hard drive too much when I was shooting the individual clips, as I ended up with not really enough to do anything very interesting. I should probably free up a little extra space before the next one.
My hunny and I have just launched one of the very secret sites we’ve been working on, Wherecraft.com! Our aim is to provide a sort of repository of links to resource sites for various MMO’s, though at the moment we’re mainly focused on World of Warcraft. It’s the one we know the best and have high-level characters in, so it made sense to start there.
To celebrate, we’re having a contest where we’re giving away 2 Orbs of Deception! All that’s required to enter is to sign up for the forums and post in the contest thread (doesn’t really matter what you post so long as it’s not horribly offensive) and in 2 weeks we’ll put everybody’s names into a hat and draw the winners. The only real restriction is that you need to roll a character on the Sentinels server, because that’s where the Orbs are.
We may run something similar for the test realms, depending on time and such.
The cut-off time is September 15th at 5pm Pacific time (8pm Eastern). Good luck! Hope you like the site. ^_^
The next wow patch is going to include built-in video capture capability on the Mac client (amongst other things), and this feature is already available for testing on the test realm. I spent some time making a number of semi-random clips, then spent the last couple of days trying to arrange them into something interesting using iMovie. What I have here is not the final version, it still needs opening titles and end credits (maybe, it may be better without) but I felt I needed some other people to see it to make sure it's at least half-arsed enjoyable before I put the finishing touches on it and upload to youtube for my single subscriber. Bless him.
Please be kind, I'm really new to this software. I do have a bit of experience with Windows Movie Maker, but that's about it. I have to say, I do like iMovie better, but I miss the ability to fade-in audio without editing the audio track in another application. There's this one spot where the audio ends a bit too abruptly and I wish I could've softened it in iMovie itself. As it is, I'm not sure it's anything to worry about. If it is I'll just fix it in garage band before the final export.
Artistically, I know it's a little odd, but I wasn't working from a storyboard or anything, so the clips were pretty random. It took some doing to turn them into a sort of story. I'm not completely happy with the black & white sequence, but at the same time I like it too much to get rid of it. All and all, I suppose it's alright for a first go. If anybody has any iMovie or general editing tips I'd love to hear them.
The song is "Ugly is Beautiful" by David Usher.
I can't believe it, I'm still sick. I've been feeling crappy for quite a few days now and it's really starting to bum me out. I haven't gotten near to finishing everything I've wanted to accomplish the last few days (at least my site and domain are snuggled in with a new host and registrar, but that's another longish story), not to mention my poor Warlock hasn't been played near as much as I would've liked the last few days. I'm kinda dizzy so I can only handle gaming for a little while before I get a pretty bad headache.
It's a really weird sort of feeling, it's somewhere between a sinus headache and a tension headache. I've been flushing my sinuses with my neti pot and doing neck rolls just in case it's either of those things, but it's not helping. About the only thing that does help is tylenol and naps.
This isn't even the most recent variation anymore. I uploaded it sometime last week and I've made quite a few changes since. I'm still working on a gold thread filigree sort of layer that's supposed to go over the red of her outfit. I'm winging it rather than trying to directly duplicate any particular armor from the game, though the basic cut of the robe is sort of inspired by existing pieces like Guardiansaint. I plan to make this one quite a bit more intricate though.
What I really want to do is to do a nice Draenei and then I could have one on either side of a nice desktop sized image. Hopefully I'll be able to sit fully upright for long stretches of time soon, that's kinda key.
Quick P.S. for my guildies, I've got a bunch of wool bags in my bank right now, seeing as how the guild bank is totally full (and sending items is costing Jarad quite a bit of coin) I thought I'd just leave them there and anybody who needs some has only to ask and I'll mail/hand them out. I can do some semi-decent enchants now too, (+15 health to chest woot!) so I may be looking to skill up if you know what I mean. ;)
Okay, it's time to lie down now. Cheerio!
Been a little un-bloggy the last few days, so I thought I should post a couple pics I've been meaning to transfer off my SD card.
That afghan turned out pretty huge, and I still have some of the yarn left! Haven't decided what to make out of it yet, I'm thinking maybe a scarf for James, the colour (cream) would look kinda neat with his dark trenchcoat I think.
The snow was pretty for a few minutes, but then it reminded me too much of Alberta and I couldn't wait for it to go away. Our windows aren't really insulated for that kind of weather so no matter how much we cranked the heat it was still cold. Good think I finished that blanket!
How cute is Tim eh? He actually kept his eyes on the screen as he pushed buttons for a little bit, before he got bored and found a key to chew on. ^_^
My site has been plugged on Onezumi.com! I'd asked them in the Harknell.com forums if it would be alright to add them to my links page, and Oni said sure and that they'd link me back. I thought they meant just adding me to their links page, they're so sweet. *thankyouuuus guys!*
For those unfamiliar, Onezumi is a web comic artist, who writes some of the funniest, nuttiest, and sweariest stuff on the interwebs. And they have Munkey. You know you love Munkey. ^_^
Also, I finally got around to re-specing my Druid, and OMG. Now I know why they're calling it DOOMkin. I put every single talent point into Balance, and I can actually kill things...
No really! I'm serious!
If you've always wanted to try the Balance tree now's a good time. I just hope they don't nerf it sometime in the future. *crosses paws/feathers/whatever*
This is absolutely brilliant. World of Warcraft guilds are now making recruitment videos and posting them to Youtube!
I'm really really tempted to roll a new character just to check these guys out.
This next one has nothing to do with guild recuritment, I just thought my mum would get a funny out of it cuz it's a joke about World of Warcraft AND Atkins. (Note for mum: This gal is a mage, mages can conjure water and food. Thus the vending machine gag.) ^_^
I rolled her last December and she's now finally 49 and a quarter. I'm hoping to hit 50 before the big move on Saterday, but I don't know if I'll have time. *grumbles* I would have to get all into that character again RIGHT before becoming extraordinarily busy wouldn't I?
P.S. I uploaded this pic and started this post yesterday, saved as draft so I could go do something then forgot all about it. It's really 2am Thursday morning right now. Doh!
