My hunny and I have just launched one of the very secret sites we’ve been working on, Wherecraft.com! Our aim is to provide a sort of repository of links to resource sites for various MMO’s, though at the moment we’re mainly focused on World of Warcraft. It’s the one we know the best and have high-level characters in, so it made sense to start there.
To celebrate, we’re having a contest where we’re giving away 2 Orbs of Deception! All that’s required to enter is to sign up for the forums and post in the contest thread (doesn’t really matter what you post so long as it’s not horribly offensive) and in 2 weeks we’ll put everybody’s names into a hat and draw the winners. The only real restriction is that you need to roll a character on the Sentinels server, because that’s where the Orbs are.
We may run something similar for the test realms, depending on time and such.
The cut-off time is September 15th at 5pm Pacific time (8pm Eastern). Good luck! Hope you like the site. ^_^
The next wow patch is going to include built-in video capture capability on the Mac client (amongst other things), and this feature is already available for testing on the test realm. I spent some time making a number of semi-random clips, then spent the last couple of days trying to arrange them into something interesting using iMovie. What I have here is not the final version, it still needs opening titles and end credits (maybe, it may be better without) but I felt I needed some other people to see it to make sure it's at least half-arsed enjoyable before I put the finishing touches on it and upload to youtube for my single subscriber. Bless him.
Please be kind, I'm really new to this software. I do have a bit of experience with Windows Movie Maker, but that's about it. I have to say, I do like iMovie better, but I miss the ability to fade-in audio without editing the audio track in another application. There's this one spot where the audio ends a bit too abruptly and I wish I could've softened it in iMovie itself. As it is, I'm not sure it's anything to worry about. If it is I'll just fix it in garage band before the final export.
Artistically, I know it's a little odd, but I wasn't working from a storyboard or anything, so the clips were pretty random. It took some doing to turn them into a sort of story. I'm not completely happy with the black & white sequence, but at the same time I like it too much to get rid of it. All and all, I suppose it's alright for a first go. If anybody has any iMovie or general editing tips I'd love to hear them.
The song is "Ugly is Beautiful" by David Usher.
Been a little un-bloggy the last few days, so I thought I should post a couple pics I've been meaning to transfer off my SD card.
That afghan turned out pretty huge, and I still have some of the yarn left! Haven't decided what to make out of it yet, I'm thinking maybe a scarf for James, the colour (cream) would look kinda neat with his dark trenchcoat I think.
The snow was pretty for a few minutes, but then it reminded me too much of Alberta and I couldn't wait for it to go away. Our windows aren't really insulated for that kind of weather so no matter how much we cranked the heat it was still cold. Good think I finished that blanket!
How cute is Tim eh? He actually kept his eyes on the screen as he pushed buttons for a little bit, before he got bored and found a key to chew on. ^_^
This is absolutely brilliant. World of Warcraft guilds are now making recruitment videos and posting them to Youtube!
I'm really really tempted to roll a new character just to check these guys out.
This next one has nothing to do with guild recuritment, I just thought my mum would get a funny out of it cuz it's a joke about World of Warcraft AND Atkins. (Note for mum: This gal is a mage, mages can conjure water and food. Thus the vending machine gag.) ^_^
